Proud of Pubs!

As it's Proud of Pubs Week this week, we wanted to get in touch to tell you about how recent research from BitterSweet Partnership suggests that it's women who will be the most proud of their local this week.

The survey from BitterSweet Partnership, the company set up by Molson Coors to change beer's reputation and relationship with women, has found that nearly 1 in three women (32%) visit a pub at least once a fortnight. Local landlords will be proud to hear that nearly three quarters (72%) opt for their local, rather than a large or upmarket high-street chain pub.

Reasons to be proud of pubs include excellent pub grub (46%) and a great atmosphere (46%), which were the top reasons to love the local, whilst good value prices (42%) and entertainment (27%) also scored highly.

When it comes to drink choice, the traditional female bar order of a gin and tonic or vodka and coke has finally been ditched in favour of the pub favourite, beer. One in five women (20%) choose to enjoy a beer at the pub and nearly one in ten (8%) like the broad selection of beers to choose from.

To make sure you have plenty of choice of pubs with great food and atmosphere, beer experts BitterSweet Partnership have lined up their favourite female friendly pubs for you to try.

Female Friendly pubs:
• The Phene – Chelsea, London
This is a pub with a difference – not only can you enjoy a cold beer in their garden terrace but you can also order from their deli/restaurant and then shop at their designer boutique. This unique pub experience is thanks to fashion designer landlady Lily Bourne.

• The Punch Bowl - Mayfair, London
Part-owned by Guy Ritchie, this pub was once a quiet English pub that is now often in the limelight for its celebrity clientele. Providing an extensive array of beers and food and the chance to be sat next to a celeb from the next blockbuster secures its popularity.

• Princess Victoria – Earls Court Road, London
Owned by actress Loui Batley (who played Sarah Barnes in Hollyoaks) this pub is a small and cosy with a modern twist. Expect corner couches with trendy patterned upholstery, floral prints hanging from the walls, and lots of large windows overlooking the street. Not to mention some great food and drink to choose from.
